Moving from MYOB to QuickBooks

Intuit's switching page names MMC Convert for MYOB files. Its basic move rebuilds your opening balances, lists and open items in QuickBooks Online, and this year's transactions can follow as an extra. We bring MYOB up to date, send the file to MMC Convert and check what arrives.

What MMC Convert moves out of MYOB

  • MMC Convert takes MYOB AccountRight and AccountRight Live files (.myo and .myox) as well as MYOB Essentials.
  • The data goes into QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus. A Simple Start subscription has to be upgraded before MMC Convert can be invited in.
  • The basic move carries opening balances for the financial year you need, customer and supplier details, the chart of accounts, and unpaid invoices and bills with their credits.
  • This year's transactions come across only in the year-to-date conversion, an extra arranged by phoning Intuit. In that version, MYOB jobs and categories can become QuickBooks classes.
  • The move can take up to 5 business days. QuickBooks Online cannot be opened while it runs, and changes made in MYOB meanwhile are not carried over.

How we run a MYOB to QuickBooks move

  1. 01

    Bring MYOB up to date

We match payments to their invoices and bills, reconcile the bank accounts, note each closing balance and keep a backup if you use AccountRight.

  2. 02

Hand the file to MMC Convert

With your QuickBooks Essentials or Plus subscription in place, we send the MYOB data to MMC Convert and pause work in MYOB until the move ends.

  3. 03

    Check QuickBooks against MYOB

When MMC Convert reports the move is finished, we compare opening balances and what each customer and supplier owes with MYOB, then reconcile the bank accounts from the conversion date.

  4. 04

    Settle the team into QuickBooks

We walk your staff through the QuickBooks Online screens that replace their MYOB routines, including where jobs and categories sit if they came across as classes.

General information

Our part is a QuickBooks Online file that matches MYOB at the conversion date and a team trained to use it. How GST and tax are set up in the new file is for your accountant to review. We do not move payroll or employee records. Sources checked 15 October 2026.
