Book Keeping Pros home

Bookkeeping for accommodation providers

Accommodation income arrives through booking sites, guest deposits and card payments at check-out, each settling on its own timetable and some of it net of commission. We look after day-to-day bookkeeping for accommodation providers across Australia.

What we look after

What the books involve

  • Booking site payouts: each transfer from an online booking site split back into the stays it covers, with the site's commission recorded as a cost rather than netted off room income.
  • Guest deposits and prepayments: money taken before arrival kept apart from earned income until the stay happens, with cancellations and refunds traced back to the original booking.
  • Front desk takings: card terminal settlements, cash and extra charges at check-out matched against the property management system's end-of-day reports and the amounts that reach the bank.
  • Running costs such as linen hire, laundry, cleaning contractors, utilities and repairs entered against the right accounts, which shows what the property costs to run through busy and quiet seasons.
  • The property management system or channel manager linked to Xero or MYOB where an integration exists, so booking records and bank feeds can be reconciled against each other.
