Bookkeeping for air conditioning firms
Air conditioning and heating businesses buy costly units from wholesalers ahead of each install, then are paid by homeowners, builders and service contract clients on different terms. We look after day-to-day bookkeeping for air conditioning firms across Australia.

These counts are for the ANZSIC class Air Conditioning and Heating Services, which also covers refrigeration equipment, coolroom and freezer room installation, so they describe a wider group than air conditioning and heating businesses alone. Businesses that mainly fit air conditioning to motor vehicles are counted in a different class, so they are not in these counts.

What the books involve
- Installs for homeowners: split systems, ducted systems and heaters invoiced with a deposit and a final payment, and each payment matched to the install once it is complete.
- Equipment wholesalers: indoor and outdoor units, copper pipe, ducting and refrigerant bought on account, matched to the wholesaler's statement and charged to the install they were bought for.
- Service contracts: regular servicing for offices, shops and strata buildings invoiced on the agreed cycle, with each contract's billing and payments followed through.
- Builder and commercial projects: ductwork and plant on new homes or fit-outs claimed under each contract, with the amount claimed, paid and held back kept in view.
- Breakdown repairs: each repair billed from the technician's job sheet, and card payments taken at the door matched when the terminal settlement reaches the bank.
- Vans and tools: recovery units, vacuum pumps, gauges and the vans that carry them recorded as assets, with their finance repayments and running costs in their own accounts.
