How to send remittance advice in MYOB
When you record a supplier payment in MYOB Business, Send remittance advice and Send now are already ticked: click Save and the advice opens, ready to email or download. Choose Send later instead and you can send a batch from the Remittance advice page on the Purchases menu.

Key takeaways
- A remittance advice tells a supplier you've paid them, and MYOB can email it directly from the bill payment.
- Emailing a remittance advice needs an address in the supplier's Remittance advice email field.
- An advice you download or mark as done moves from the To do view to Done, where it can still be viewed, downloaded or emailed again.
Before you start
Open the supplier's details and make sure the Remittance advice email field holds an address. MYOB needs that address before it can email an advice.
Choose when to send. Sending at the moment you save the payment takes one step. Send later holds the advice so several can be emailed or downloaded together, for example after a run of bill payments.
The email's subject and message are filled in for you, so there's no need to write them each time or use your own email program. The defaults live in the settings menu, on the Purchases settings page under the Email defaults tab, and you can change them there or for any single advice.
Steps
- Record the payment against the supplier's bill. The Send remittance advice and Send now options are selected by default.
- Click Save. MYOB records the payment and opens the remittance advice.
- To keep a copy, click Download as PDF, then Download PDF. The file saves to your computer.
- To email it, check the address in the To field. Click ⊕Email to add another recipient, add a cc address, or click Email me a copy to send one to the address in your Business settings.
- Read over the subject and message, and edit them if you want.
- Click Send remittance advice.
Note
What changes afterwards
Saving records the payment before the advice opens, so the advice is a notice about a payment that's already in MYOB.
On the Remittance advice page, a downloaded advice leaves the To do view. If you download with Select template, which AccountRight online company files offer, the PDF arrives in a zip file that you double-click to open. To clear an advice from To do without sending it, select it and click Mark as done.
Nothing is lost once an advice leaves To do. Set the Status field to Done, find it by supplier and dates, and download or email it again whenever a supplier asks.
If it doesn't work
MYOB Business can't create a new remittance advice template in a browser. With an AccountRight online company file, you can design a customised remittance form in the installed AccountRight software and then choose it as the template in the browser.
If you use AccountRight on the desktop, advices are printed or emailed from Print/Email Remittance Advices in the Purchases command centre, on the To Be Printed or To Be Emailed tab. Each supplier's usual delivery method is set on the Payment Details tab of their card, and can still be changed on a payment. If an advice seems to be missing from the list, it may already have gone: open Advanced Filters and deselect Unprinted or Unsent Remittance Advices Only.
