MYOB bookkeeping for Sydney businesses

Your business has run on MYOB for a long time and you'd rather not change. We work through the items that have sat unreconciled, then keep that same file up to date each month.

Bringing a long-standing MYOB file up to date

  • No change of software

Your contacts, past invoices and report history stay in MYOB, where you already know your way around. We join the file as a user and do the bookkeeping there.

  • Old items traced

Unreconciled items that have built up get traced back to their cause: a duplicated payment, a deposit with no invoice, or a cheque that didn't clear. We correct errors in the books and flag any bank error for you to raise with the bank.

  • Current from then on

With the backlog dealt with, each month the books are checked against the bank statement and any difference is explained, bills are entered and customer payments are matched to their invoices.

Questions about an older MYOB file

Do we need to move to Xero to get this help?
No. The work happens in MYOB. Staying put means nobody has to learn new software, and your history stays in the file it started in.
Some unreconciled items go back a long way. Do they still matter?
They can. An item left open carries into every later reconciliation, so the books and the statement keep showing a difference nobody can explain. Clearing it means later months are compared against figures that have been checked.
What if nobody remembers what an old item was?
We look at the bank statement, any related bill or invoice and the entries around it. If it's still unclear, we put what we found in front of you, and you or your accountant decide how it's recorded.
Will fixing old items change reports from earlier periods?
It can, because a correction lands in the period the item belongs to. We list every correction, and before changing anything in a period your accountant has already closed off, we check with you.
Can you tell us what needs clearing before you start?
Yes. We begin with a list of the open items and how far back they go, with what we'd tackle first. You see that list before anything in the file changes.
