Moving from Reckon to Xero
Xero's own conversion page sends Reckon desktop users to Jet Convert. We prepare the Reckon file, hand it to Jet Convert, then tie the Xero file back to Reckon before your team takes it over.
What Jet Convert takes from Reckon
- Reckon desktop and Reckon Hosted files in the Pro, Premier and Enterprise editions convert, in the file formats Xero lists.
- Reckon data from before those releases is converted where possible, but Xero says some of it may not come across.
- Reckon One and Reckon Home & Business are not converted, and nor are files that use more than one currency.
- Accounts with no number in Reckon are given system-generated numbers in Xero, which can be changed after the move.
How a Reckon move runs
- 01
Prepare the Reckon file
We set a closing date, reconcile the bank and card accounts and make every account name unique, archived ones included.
- 02
Back up and upload
We back up the Reckon file and upload it to Jet Convert along with the package you pick.
- 03
Balance the new file
When the Xero file is ready, we tie its opening balances to Reckon's trial balance, rework the reconciliations and renumber accounts if you want.
- 04
Teach the Xero basics
We show your team how the daily work they did on Reckon's desktop screens is done in Xero online.
