Moving from Xero to QuickBooks
Intuit names Dataswitcher for moving Xero files into QuickBooks Online. Once you allow it into your Xero organisation, Dataswitcher writes the data into a new QuickBooks file. We get Xero ready, take you through the transfer and test the QuickBooks result against Xero.
What Dataswitcher takes from Xero
- Dataswitcher can move Xero data into QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus or Advanced. The QuickBooks file has to be empty when the transfer starts.
- The standard transfer brings the last two financial years. Earlier years are rolled into one calculated opening balance unless you buy extra years.
- Budgets, memorised transactions, templates, sales orders, quotes, projects and attachments stay in Xero, and multicurrency data does not transfer.
- On Plus and Advanced, Xero tracking categories arrive as Locations and up to 1,000 inventory items can come across. Both are extras with a fee Dataswitcher quotes before the conversion.
- Dataswitcher posts journal entries without linking them to their related credits, so we match those in Xero before the transfer.

Lock and reconcile Xero
We reconcile each bank and card account to its latest statement, match credits to their journals, set a lock date and save the trial balance and ageing reports.

Start from an empty QuickBooks file
With a new QuickBooks Online file ready, you sign in to Dataswitcher's wizard, allow it into Xero and choose how many years to bring.

Test QuickBooks against Xero
When Dataswitcher confirms the transfer, we compare the balance sheet, trial balance and ageing summaries with Xero and reconcile each bank account to the transfer date.

We show your staff where their usual Xero jobs sit in QuickBooks Online, such as categorising bank transactions, sending invoices and entering bills.
