What sits behind these figures in the books
- The main day-to-day expenses are glass, aluminium framing and sealants, vehicle running costs, cutting and handling equipment, insurance and staff costs, along with subcontractors brought in for larger installs.
- Glass and framing bought for each job are recorded against that job when the supplier bill comes in, so material costs land in the period the work is done.
- Purchases of a glass trailer, racks or cutting tables are kept apart from everyday running costs, because they are equipment that lasts for years rather than an expense of the period.
