How to undo a reconciliation in MYOB
Go to Reconcile accounts on the Banking menu, pick the bank account, click Undo and confirm. MYOB only undoes the most recent reconciliation, so reaching an older one means undoing each later one first.

Key takeaways
- MYOB undoes bank reconciliations one at a time, starting with the most recent.
- A single transaction that was reconciled through a bank feed or an imported statement is corrected by unmatching it, not by undoing a whole reconciliation.
- Transactions in an undone reconciliation go back to unreconciled and need reconciling again.
Before you start
Pin down what's wrong. If it's one transaction that MYOB reconciled automatically, because it came in through a bank feed or an imported bank statement, leave the reconciliation alone and unmatch that transaction instead. If the transaction was reconciled by hand, you'll need to undo the reconciliation it belongs to.
Know which reconciliation holds the problem. Only the latest one can be undone, so for an earlier one you work backwards, undoing each newer reconciliation in turn until you reach it.
Keep a record of what was reconciled before you start. On the Reconcile accounts page, select the account and click Export to save the last reconciliation as a PDF or Excel file. For AccountRight on the desktop, MYOB strongly suggests a backup first, because undoing a reconciliation can't be reversed.
Steps
- From the Banking menu, choose Reconcile accounts.
- To see only one account's reconciliations, choose it from the Bank account dropdown list.
- Click Undo.
- At the confirmation message, click Yes, undo reconciliation.
- If the reconciliation you need is older than the one just undone, repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach it.
Note
What changes afterwards
The reconciliation is gone and its transactions are unreconciled again. MYOB's desktop instructions spell out the follow-on work: every transaction in that period has to be reconciled again, and any reconciliation reports you printed need producing afresh.
To redo it, open Reconcile accounts and choose the account. Enter the Statement date and the Closing bank statement balance from your statement if MYOB hasn't filled them in, then select each transaction that appears on the statement. When the Calculated closing balance equals the statement balance and nothing shows as out of balance, click Reconcile. Save progress keeps your selections if you need to stop part way.
When MYOB prompts you at the end, click Export report to keep a copy of the Bank reconciliation report. The same report can be run later from the Reporting menu.
If it doesn't work
If you use AccountRight on the desktop, open Reconcile Accounts from the Banking command centre, enter the Account and click Undo Reconciliation. The Undo Last Reconciliation window shows the account and date being undone; click Undo Reconciliation, then OK. A greyed-out Undo Reconciliation button means that account has never been reconciled, so check you've picked the right one. On the desktop, stepping back through several reconciliations is limited to the current financial year.
