Long service leave for casual employees in Tasmania
The rules in Tasmania's table are not special rules for casual employees. They are the Act's general rules on continuous employment and hours, which treat work that would otherwise be casual as continuous when the hours test is met: regular work of at least the hours the table names in each period of the weeks it shows.

What it means for your books
- Weekly hours, totalled for each period of the weeks in the table, show whether the hours test was met in that period. Whether a particular employee's work meets the test is a question for WorkSafe Tasmania or your accountant; the totals are what that question is answered from.
- Separate contracts with the business can add up to continuous employment, and work for someone else in the same period does not break it. Keeping each contract's dates under a single employee record lets the periods be read together.
- Where no weekly hours are set, hours are averaged over the months in the table, which sets how far back the timesheet history needs to reach.
