How public holidays work in South Australia
- The Public Holidays Act 2023 sets public and bank holidays in South Australia. It replaced the Holidays Act 1910 from 1 January 2024.
- Proclamation Day is 28 December, but its holiday is observed on 26 December. When 26 December is a Saturday, the following Monday is also a public holiday. When it is a Sunday or Monday, the following Tuesday is.
- When Christmas Day or New Year's Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, that day and the following Monday are both public holidays.
- Anzac Day is a public holiday on 25 April whatever day it falls on, with no substitute or additional day.
- Easter Sunday has been a public holiday since 1 January 2024, so all four days of Easter are public holidays.
- Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are part-day public holidays, from 7pm to midnight.
