MYOB bank reconciliation and matching

In MYOB Business, bank feed lines are matched on the Bank transactions page. MYOB matches what it can to records already entered, applies your bank rules and suggests categories from earlier choices, and MYOB says it is rolling out AI-driven matching there too. We check each automatic match and suggestion, clear the lines left over and reconcile the account. The details below are from MYOB's support page on working with bank transactions.

What we do on the MYOB Bank transactions page

  • Check the automatic matching options under the three dots on the Bank transactions page, including matching customer and supplier payments to open invoices and bills.
  • Hover over each automatic match, marked with a black sparkle, to see what MYOB matched it to, and unmatch any that are wrong.
  • Accept or change each category MYOB suggests, so later suggestions follow the categories your business uses.
  • Set up bank rules for regular transactions with a fixed description, such as bank interest, and check the lightning symbol shows where each rule applied.
  • Match a bank line to several records, or add an adjustment for a rounding difference, then work through the Not matched filter with your team.

How we run matching in MYOB

  1. 01

    Confirm the set-up

We check each feed is active in the Banking hub and that the automatic matching options suit the business.

  2. 02

    Check MYOB's matches

We go through the automatic matches, rule matches and category suggestions, keeping the right ones and unmatching the rest.

  3. 03

    Clear what's left

For each line still under Not matched, we search for its record, split it across categories or match it to a category.

  4. 04

    Reconcile and hand over

We reconcile the account, then agree with your team who works through the Not matched filter and how often.

General information

MYOB sets how its automatic matching, bank rules and category suggestions work. Where it isn't clear which category a transaction belongs in, the decision is yours, with your accountant where you have one. We match and reconcile to the categories you settle on. Sources checked 16 October 2026.
