Xero bank reconciliation with JAX
In Xero, JAX can reconcile bank lines as they arrive, using one of your bank rules, an existing Xero record, how you reconciled similar lines before or how other Xero users did. Xero says it reconciles on its own only when it is highly confident, and otherwise suggests a match and leaves the line for a person. We agree with you where it runs, check each line it reconciles and clear the ones it leaves. The details below are from Xero's own page.
What we do with reconciliation in Xero
- Decide with you which bank accounts have JAX's automation turned on, and leave it off for any account you want matched by hand.
- Check each line JAX has reconciled and why it matched, and use Remove and redo on any that are wrong.
- Clear the lines JAX leaves: accept its suggestion where it fits, or create, split or transfer the transaction instead.
- Set up bank rules for transactions that repeat, using the treatment you or your accountant have agreed, so JAX applies it.
- Show your team how to spot the lines that need attention, add receipts in the Reconcile tab and find changes in the History and Notes report.
How we run reconciliation in Xero
- 01
Set up each account
We confirm each account's feed is current and agree where JAX's automation is switched on.
- 02
Set up rules and cash coding
We add bank rules for the regular transactions you have agreed a treatment for and, where your plan includes it, use cash coding for high-volume lines such as daily sales.
- 03
Check JAX's work
We go through the lines JAX reconciled, look at the method behind each one and correct any that are wrong.
- 04
Clear and hand over
We clear the lines JAX left for a person, then walk your team through the routine.
