Xero bookkeeping for Melbourne businesses

For Melbourne businesses already running on Xero, we keep the file moving through the month. Bank feed lines are reconciled, supplier bills and customer invoices stay up to date, and the month closes with reports drawn from Xero.

How a month runs in Xero

  • Bank feed lines reconciled

We reconcile the lines your bank feeds bring into Xero, comparing each with the bill, invoice or receipt behind it. A line with nothing to explain it is set aside and asked about, not guessed at.

  • Bills in, invoices followed

Supplier bills go into Xero with their due dates, and customer invoices are marked paid as the money arrives, so what you owe and what you're owed read correctly.

  • Reports to close the month

When the month's lines are done, we run the profit and loss and the balance sheet from Xero, so you see how the month went and where the business stands.

  • What you see in between

Between month ends, your Xero dashboard shows bank balances, invoices owed to you and bills coming due. With the feeds reconciled as we go, those views reflect the work done so far.

Questions about monthly Xero bookkeeping

What's left for us to do each month?
The parts only you can do: raising invoices, deciding which bills to pay and answering our questions about lines we can't place. The rest of the month's bookkeeping sits with us.
How do you ask about transactions you can't place?
We gather them into a list instead of sending questions piecemeal. You can reply with a short note, or attach the receipt to the transaction in Xero.
Can the month's reports go beyond the profit and loss?
Yes. Xero also has reports such as aged receivables, aged payables and a cash summary, and we can add the ones that help you run the business.
Can we see where the month is up to?
Yes. The Xero dashboard shows, for each bank account, whether there are statement lines left to reconcile, so you can check progress without asking us.
Should bills be entered before they're paid?
It helps. When a bill is in Xero before the payment goes out, the bank line can be matched straight to it, and Xero shows what falls due and when.
