Square and Xero: daily sales and fees
Square builds its Xero integration. It imports your daily Square sales into Xero as a summary and lets customers pay Xero invoices through Square. We connect it, check where the summary and fees post and reconcile each deposit. The listing details below are from the Xero App Store.
What we do with Square and Xero
- Connect Square to Xero from Square's set-up page and choose how the daily sales summary is laid out.
- Check the accounts the daily summary posts sales, gift cards, tips and surcharges to.
- Review the bank rules Xero creates when Square connects, so Square's processing fees land in the fees account.
- Match each Square deposit to its bank line, with the fees the deposit details show recorded on their own line.
- Set Square up as a way for customers to pay the invoices you send from Xero, where that suits you.
How we connect Square to Xero
- 01
Check the current set-up
If an older Square connection is in place, we confirm the new set-up replaces it, as the listing's last set-up step allows.
- 02
Connect and set accounts
You sign in to Square and Xero, and we choose the summary layout and the accounts it posts to.
- 03
Check the first days
We compare the first daily summaries with Square's own sales reports, including gift cards, tips and surcharges.
- 04
Reconcile and train
We match deposits and fees to the bank, then walk your team through the weekly routine.
