Book Keeping Pros home

Bookkeeping for painters

Painters are paid by homeowners for repaints, by builders for new work and by agencies for maintenance on rental and strata properties, while paint and gear come from trade paint accounts. We look after day-to-day bookkeeping for painters across Australia.

What we look after

What the books involve

  • Residential repaints: a deposit taken when the quote is accepted and the balance invoiced once the painting is done, with both payments matched to the job so unpaid balances are easy to spot.
  • New homes and commercial work: painting stages claimed from builders under each contract, and any amount the builder holds back recorded until it is released.
  • Trade paint accounts: paint, primers, fillers, tape and drop sheets matched to the paint store's monthly statement, with tinted and colour-matched orders coded to the job they were mixed for.
  • Rental and strata maintenance: repaints and touch-ups ordered by agencies invoiced with the agency's reference and the property address, then listed each month until the agency pays.
  • Spray rigs, ladders and scaffold: equipment the business owns recorded as assets, and scaffold or lift hire charged to the project that needed it.
  • Subcontracted painters: invoices from other painters brought onto larger projects entered against those projects, so the labour cost of each project sits beside its quote.
