Bookkeeping for photographers
Photographers take deposits well ahead of a wedding or shoot, collect the balance close to the date, and spend on gear, editing software and print orders along the way. We look after day-to-day bookkeeping for photographers across Australia.

What we look after
Small business bookkeeping
Deposits, balances and gear costs kept current through busy seasons.
Catch-up bookkeeping
Past wedding seasons of bookings and receipts entered and reconciled.
Xero bookkeeping
Gallery payouts and card receipts reconciled in Xero.
What the books involve
- Booking deposits: retainers taken to hold a wedding or event date recorded against that booking, then set against the final invoice when the balance is paid closer to the day.
- Galleries and print sales: orders through online gallery and print platforms reconciled to each payout, with the print lab's charges entered as costs instead of being taken off the sale.
- Camera gear: bodies, lenses, lighting and drones recorded when bought, with any equipment finance repayments matched to the lender's statement and repairs or gear hire coded on their own.
- Software subscriptions: photo editing, gallery hosting, booking and website plans coded to their own accounts each month, with receipts attached to the card transactions that paid them.
- Second shooters and editors: invoices from freelance photographers, retouchers and assistants entered against the shoot they worked on, so the cost of each wedding or commercial job is visible.
- Travel for shoots: fuel, flights and accommodation for destination weddings and location work recorded against the job, showing the full cost of shooting away from home.
