What sits behind these figures in the books
- Cost of sales covers the carpet, underlay, hard flooring and trims bought to sell, adjusted for rolls and boxes in the warehouse at the period end, including part rolls with resale value.
- Payments to contract installers are entered against the job they fitted and kept on their own line, so installation costs are recorded consistently from period to period.
- Supplier bills for flooring ordered in for a particular customer are matched to that order, so special-order stock is costed against the right sale.
